About PMD:
The Cabinet Secretariat’s (Aviation Division) Aviation Division oversees the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), which is both a scientific and a service department. The PMD is in charge of delivering meteorological services throughout Pakistan to a wide range of interest groups as well as for several public projects and activities that call for climatic data.
The department also offers services in the areas of hydrology, earthquake seismology, and geomagnetism in addition to meteorology. As one of the 198 member states of the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO), PMD functions as Pakistan’s National Meteorological and Hydrological Service. Pakistan is located in Region #2, also known as Regional Association II (RA-II), which encompasses Asia and the Pacific. The WMO has split the world into 8 meteorological regions. The Vice President of RA-II and Permanent Representative of Pakistan is the Director General of PMD.
