About Shifa International Hospital
The Hospital was established on September 20, 1987, as a Private Limited Company, then on October 12, 1989, it changed its status to a Public Limited Company. Dr. Zaheer Ahmad home in Islamabad’s sector F-8/3 served as the first Shifa office. Later, it was relocated to a rental location in Islamabad’s Blue Area, a neighborhood of commercial buildings, before the site office building was finally completed in January 1988. Beginning in 1988, building work was begun to prepare the land for constructing the hospital’s foundation. The sponsors’ parents, as well as their devoted team of coworkers and well-wishers, held the foundation ceremony on October 6, 1989.
In the middle of 1985, New York, USA, was where the concept for building a world-class medical center in Pakistan was first conceptualized. Dr. Zaheer Ahmad, the meeting’s organizer, scheduled a gathering over the weekend of July 20 and 21, right after completing his internal medicine residency.
There, five experts met, thoroughly discussed the proposal, and then gave it their blessing. Dr. Sabir Ali from Palm Bay, Florida, Mr. Samiullah Sharief from Brooklyn, New York, Mr. Muhammad Zahid from Kew Gardens, New York, and Dr. Zaheer himself were among the participants.
